[08/20/2009] Notice: We have discovered that the RotationTracks product has been incomplete from 14 August 2009 until the present time. We should have the data feed corrected shortly. However, we will need to try to backfill the data since 14 August 2009. An update message will be issued when we know more about restoring those data. Again, this affects the RotationTracks product only for the time period 14 August 2009 to 20 August 2009... (klm 1633z)

[04/13/2009] Notice: There appears to be an issue with the interactive preview image on the results page when running under Firefox 3.x. We are looking into this. This does not affect the OnDemand processing, nor the output files. Other web browsers do not appear to have this issue.

This message, posted on 02/24/2009, serves as a notice that we will be restricting access to the OnDemand Severe Weather Verification System (http://ondemand.nssl.noaa.gov) beginning on a transition date of March 31, 2009. Since this experimental site is intended only for non-commercial use, we will be restricting usage of this site to non-commercial users starting on the transition date. Users originating from any .gov, .edu, or .mil domain will have unrestricted access to the system. Users originating from any other domain will be required to register for access, using the registration form: [User Registration], and will be subject to approval by the system administrators.

The following illustrates how to use the 'On Demand' website...

Selection Process

Step 0: Go to Selection Page

Go to http://ondemand.nssl.noaa.gov/

 

 

On Demand Selection Page

Step 1: Select date, time and duration

  • Enter Start and End dates/times
  • Data go back to August of 2007
  • Period is currently limited to 6 hour duration

Step 2: Select product(s)

Current Products available are Maximum Expected Size of Hail (MESH) and Rotation Tracks. More products may be added in the future.

Step 3: Select output format

Current output formats include:

  • GeoTIFF
  • GoogleEarth KMZ
  • AWIPS style netCDF
  • WDSSII style netCDF

More formats may be added later

Step 4: Select area

You can either use your mouse to clik and drag an area on the map or you can enter the corners of an area on the upper right side of the page

Step 5: Enter your email address

We will send you an email confirmation of your submission. This will also give you the location of the temporary results page where you can check to see if your data are ready. The confirmation email is also sent to the web page administrators to ensure your selection is processed.

Upon successful submission, you will see a confirmation page with your entries. This confirmation page will also point you to a webpage where you can monitor he progress of your submission. This "results page" will remain online for 7 days from your submission date, after which it will be removed.
